The world’s largest construction show is returning soon, and is back in its normal April slot after being held in October 2022 due to disruption caused by Covid. The 2022 show was a success, with just under half a million visitors and more than 3,000 exhibitors from around 60 countries. This year, though, will see Bauma back in its traditional slot, and all signs point to the show being back to its mind-bogglingly large self. Event director Nicole Schmitt said that she expects Bauma to be on a par with the size of the 2019 event – that year was a record for Bauma, with a total of 620,000 visitors from over 200 countries. “Many of the customers who skipped 2022 due to the pandemic will be coming back,” says Schmitt.

The 2025 event will see new exhibitors as well as a host of familiar companies that are leaders in their fields of construction.

Selected highlights

Stefanie Wieland, director of corporate marketing at Wacker Neuson Group, emphasises Bauma’s significance. “For us, Bauma is the most relevant trade show and trend barometer for the entire industry. Not only is it the world’s largest show, but it is also the place to exchange with our customers, see the latest trends and developments, and get a feeling about where the business is heading.” Wieland further highlights the role of the show in challenging times. “Especially in tough times, trade shows like Bauma are very valuable as they give us the chance to strengthen the partnership with our customers and get visitors excited about our brands. We think that Bauma will bring a positive boost that everyone in our industry can benefit from.”

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) shares a similar view, with Carl Slotte, head of region europe, stating the company’s commitment to leading the industry’s transformation and enhancing Volvo CE’s market perception, particularly in innovation and sustainability.

Slotte notes, “We will demonstrate the power of the whole Volvo Group, and this time, we will strengthen the collaboration with our two German retail partners in developing the Bauma show.

CHAMPAGNE AND STRAWBERRIES IS BACK

KHL’s famous champagne and strawberries event returns to Bauma Munich 2025. The event will be held at the KHL stand on Thursday, 10th April from 3-6pm. KHL is located at stand 401 in hall B5.

All those that work in the construction industry are invited to attend.

“Our total solutions approach will show customers how we can help them decarbonise their businesses while maintaining high productivity. We truly believe that fossil-free construction sites are a necessity, and we can only make it happen through collaboration across the entire value chain.”

John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) also sees the event as a platform to showcase its latest advances. The company will feature its ongoing investments in renewable diesel fuels and biodiesel blends, alongside its new engine architecture, including the JD4, JD14, and JD18 models, which are designed to support these fuel options. JDPS will also highlight its aftermarket solutions.

The show is being held once again in its traditional April slot after taking place in October in 2022

A spokesperson for Wirtgen told International Construction that, “With likely more than 90 exhibits for a range of different application scenarios – including many world premieres and innovations – Wirtgen, Vögele, Hamm, Kleemann, Benninghoven and John Deere will show concrete solutions with which they will accompany the industry on the way to more digitalisation and automation in road construction and materials processing.”

Benefits of in-person events

On the importance on attending in-person shows, Wirtgen said, “Teams and Zoom are certainly helpful as additional tools to maintain close communication with customers. But direct contact with our partners, the face-toface communication and exchange of ideas is still essential to our business.”

Hidromek says that the main themes at their stand will be digitisation and innovation. When speaking to International Construction, they agreed on the importance of attending events in-person. “We recognise the importance of face to face meetings for increasing our brand awareness, establishing new partnerships, introducing our new products to our current dealers and customers, and achieving all of this in the same environment.”

Hitachi Construction Machinery Europe (HCME) is set to display several machines from its ZW-7wheeled loader and ZXW-7wheeled excavator ranges. On the stand, visitors will see models such as the ZW180-7and ZW3107 wheeled loaders, promoted as some of the safest machines on the market. Features like the narrow engine hood and Aerial Angle camera system, offering a 270-degree view of the jobsite, enhance safety.

Anja Kaulbach, global marketing and communications manager, Epiroc, sums up the event perfectly, saying, “While we see a decline in the importance of many other shows around the world, Bauma stands as the landmark for the construction industry.

“It’s a show that unites the entire industry in one place and where we typically achieve significant sales. A return on marketing investment is crucial to all our activities, and Bauma delivers a perfect fit. This is why Bauma is a strategic event for us and the entire industry.” iC
