Unlocking our industry’s potential

Stefano Panseri, President of the European Demolition Association (EDA), reflects on the opportunities for demolition, decontamination and recycling contractors.

EDA president Stefano Panseri.

As we edge closer to the EDA Annual Convention 2024, I want to take this moment to reflect on the incredible opportunities that await us.

Europe, more than any other region, is changing fast. With greater demands from clients and new legislation coming in to help us hit Net Zero targets and transform into a circular economy, contractors in our industry are being pushed in new directions like never before.

But when you factor in the demands of project sites, as a professional collective, you start to understand that it is us and our partners who are usually the ones spearheading both innovation and change.

Why? Because the project sites demand innovation for the work itself to be done to the highest safety, technical, and practical standards.

Personally, I have been inspired so many times by the work of demolition, decontamination, and recycling (DDR) contractors in our region. Every time I get to speak directly with colleagues from across Europe (and other regions as well), my motivation and determination to learn, improve, and help others do the same grows exponentially.

EDA ANNUAL CONVENTION

So, I am incredibly excited for this year’s EDA Annual Convention, which will take place in the beautiful city of Belgrade in Serbia from June 13 to 15. It will be an essential gathering for professionals in the demolition industry, offering a unique chance for contractors to connect with our industry’s top leaders – who have already confirmed their attendance.

A pivotal event both for its educational content and networking potential, the 2024 convention will feature a guest panel and 14 esteemed speakers who will share their expertise with us all. I cannot stress enough how incredible an opportunity it is for us all to engage directly with those who are shaping our industry. The knowledge and connections you’ll gain there are invaluable, offering fresh perspectives and fostering collaborations that could elevate your business to new heights.

One of the most anticipated events at the convention is the Gala Dinner at Belgrade’s White Palace. This promises to be an unforgettable evening of fine dining, entertainment, and networking. It’s more than just a dinner; it’s an opportunity to build relationships with peers in a relaxed environment.

In addition, we’ve arranged an exciting leisure itinerary for companions. While you’re immersed in the convention’s workshops and conferences, companions can explore the city of Novi Sad, which offers a mix of history, culture, and natural beauty. This program ensures that everyone at the convention has a memorable experience.

On behalf of the EDA and myself, I urge you to attend this significant event, and I look forward to welcoming you to Belgrade.
