FROM THE EDITOR
Hello 2024.
Now, I’m sure there are some people out there looking around thinking ‘how can it be 2024 already?’ And this is despite it now being six weeks into the year. However, many of us in the demolition and dismantling sector have been looking forward to this particular year for some time.
For me, 2024 is not only the year in which I turn 40 (yes, you heard me right, 40!), it is also the 25th anniversary of D&Ri.
To have been in print for a quarter of a century is a massive achievement. Although, I have to say that, to me, this achievement is also no surprise – given both the amazing work carried out over the years by our demolition contractor friends around the world, and the dedication of the editors that came before me.
I’d like to offer a huge ‘thank you’ to Paul Marsden, D&Ri’s first editor, Steve Brown, Lindsey Gale and Steve Ducker, who in their custodianships of the magazine, have led it – and the World Demolition Summit, from strength to strength.
And while I avoid (at all costs) putting words into other people’s mouths, I’m sure that none of my predecessor’s would mind me saying that ultimately the reason for our success, is really nothing to do with us. It’s the contractors and the associations, and the OEMs and all the other industry professionals that make up our readership, who have enabled us to keep writing for the past 25 years.
So, to each and every one of you reading this now, thank you. Thank you for sharing your stories with us, for being part of the conversation, and for your longtime support, collaboration, and friendship.
Warm regards, LEILA STEED
