One (of the many) interesting aspects about covering all the different areas of construction – rental, demolition and recycling, cranes, access equipment, construction OEMs and contractors – is how the areas all have their individual nuances while, at the same time, are impacted by the same mega trends.

In this latest edition of the Global Construction Guide (GCG) it is quite clear what some of these trends are: rising materials and labour costs, sustainability, a lack of skilled workers, a shortage of some parts and components, and a decline in the Chinese market. These issues are all – to varying degrees – impacting the lists that this latest version of the GCG looks at.

In case you don’t know, a brief explainer: the GCG uses the exclusive ‘top lists’ that KHL’s expert editorial team produce in sectors such as construction, rental, cranes, access, and demolition and recycling and puts them all into one handy place. Crucially, we also edit these lists to provide you with more of a snapshot from each sector; for example, the original list of the biggest demolition contractors was the top 100 – we provide you with the top 25.

As well as these lists we also have industry experts Off-Highway Research give an overview of global equipment sales and a look ahead to what the future might hold, and an article from Oxford Economics and Gleeds on what regions of the world future growth for construction will come from. Last, but by no means least, there’s also a map of the world that highlights what construction emission regulations different countries and regions of the world currently have.

The lists provide a snapshot of each major sector of the construction industry and highlight what general – and specific to them – challenges and opportunities they are facing.
