FROM THE EDITOR
Well, here we are, at the end of another year. For me, the past few months have brought new challenges, new experiences and new colleagues – many of whom I was fortunate enough to meet in person at the 2023 World Demolition Summit (WDS) and Awards in Toronto, Canada.
And as I reflect on what has proved to be an extremely exciting and (for all of us, I’m sure) a very busy period, for some it has also been an incredibly sad and stressful time.
As I write this, the news that a number of demolition companies have entered administration is fresh. Further evidence of the difficulties, both external and internal, that contractors continue to face, but hopefully also a rallying cry that will encourage more collaboration and a greater sharing of knowledge – not just within our own industry and across the sectors, but between each other as individuals.
The open and honest exchange of knowledge and ideas that I’ve had with my predecessor, Steve Ducker, and with the numerous new colleagues I’ve met recently, has benefitted me not just with a deeper understanding of specific subjects, but with an enthusiasm that only comes from collaborating with others.
From the buzz that was in the air at this year’s WDS, I know that so many of you reading this would agree.
As we shift our focus towards, what is for many, the holiday season, and the new year ahead, I wholeheartedly encourage you to reach out and share your experiences with others. For me, personally, 2024 means a new editorial programme for D&Ri, as well as some exciting online exclusives about this great sector that I’m delighted to be part of.
Warm regards, LEILA STEED
